Bank of Italy selects Rossi to join governing board

salvatore-rossi

Salvatore Rossi, secretary-general and adviser to the Bank of Italy's governing board, was on Tuesday selected as deputy director-general at the Italian central bank.

Rossi will fill the vacant seat left open by Ignazio Visco, who was promoted to head the central bank in October. Visco's surprise appointment as governor of the Bank of Italy ended months of speculation over the leadership at the central bank, following the departure of Mario Draghi to the European Central Bank.
