China central bank official nominated to join private bank’s board

China Construction Bank Corporation on Wednesday nominated Wang Hongzhang, chief disciplinary officer at the People's Bank of China, to become an executive director on its board.

In a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the lender said it would put the proposal to shareholders in the first special meeting of 2012.

Local media immediately began speculating that Wang would eventually become chairman of the bank after the former head, Guo Shuqing, left to lead the China Securities Regulatory
