Fed minutes reveal split over exit strategy

US lawmakers are divided on how best to exit from the current accommodative monetary stance when the time comes, minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) meeting, published on Wednesday, show.

In discussions at the April 26 and 27 meeting between members of the committee on the possible exit strategies, a consensus view emerged in the minutes suggesting the FOMC was likely to begin tightening policy by stopping reinvestments into agency and Treasury securities.
