Ex-Brazil governor to head Olympic authority

Henrique Meirelles, a former governor of the Central Bank of Brazil, has been named head of the committee tasked with preparing for the 2016 Olympic Games, to be held in Rio de Janeiro.

Meirelles, who left the central bank at the end of last year, accepted the nomination to head the Olympic Public Authority following a meeting with Brazil's president, Dilma Rousseff, on Monday.
