Belgium’s Quaden quits

Guy Quaden, the governor of the National Bank of Belgium, announced his resignation from the central bank on Wednesday, despite continued concerns over the government's ability to appoint a successor.

Speaking at the release of the central bank's annual report, Quaden said he planned to step down on March 31, seven months into his third term. Quaden said he initially intended to leave the central bank on August 5, 2010, the date of his 65th birthday, but agreed to stay on until the government
