Weber to quit Buba in April
Axel Weber will step down a year ahead of schedule, the Bundesbank said on Friday.
The central bank said Weber had notified Chancellor Angela Merkel that he wished to resign from his post this April, seven years into an eight-year term, after the two met on Friday afternoon.
The news comes after it emerged earlier this week that he would not seek a second term, following reports that he would not run for the top job at the European Central Bank (ECB), which becomes vacant in October.
