Jordan appoints Sharaf as new governor
Sharif Fares Sharaf, a member of the board of directors and a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, has been named the institution's new governor.
Petra, a government owned news agency, on Thursday said a royal decree approving a cabinet decision to appoint Sharaf as governor was passed. His appointment for a five-year term is effective immediately.
Sharaf succeeds Umayya Toukan, who has been governor of the central bank for the past ten years. Toukan's second five year term is
