Wellink keen on expanding Basel III rules

Nout Wellink, the president of the Netherlands Bank and chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, on Wednesday said the new improvements to the Basel capital and liquidity requirements would assist regulators in reducing risks in their financial systems.

At the 16th International Conference of Banking Supervisors in Singapore, Wellink said: "Raising the quality, consistency and transparency of the capital base has been one of the primary objectives of the committee's reform
