Ex-Brazil deputy to head hedge fund’s Latin American office

Mário Mesquita, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Brazil, was on Monday named as the head of a UK hedge fund's new São Paulo-based Latin American office.

Mesquita, who was director of economic policy at the central bank, left in March for personal reasons, citing his desire to take on new professional projects. He was replaced by Carlos Hamilton Araujo.

Mesquita had already joined the hedge fund prior to Monday's announcement.
