Fed loses appeal to protect names of bailed out banks

An appeals court in New York has rejected a request by the Federal Reserve Board to reconsider a ruling that will force it to give the names and details of lenders that benefited from the Fed's expansion of its balance sheet in the wake of the financial crisis.

Leading media reported Tuesday that the Manhattan-based US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit refused a 4 May application by the Fed to have a late March decision, forcing it to reveal the details, reversed. An official at the court
