Nepal to end circulation of banknotes featuring ousted king
Banknotes with the face of former Nepalese King Gyanendra will be phased out of circulation, the Nepal Rastra Bank said on Thursday.
Agence France-Presse (AFP), a news wire, quoted Gopal Kaphle, a spokesman at the central bank, as saying the old notes featuring King Gyanendra would be phased out by the end of the Nepalese year, which comes to a close in April 2011. "We are trying to circulate clean notes. The old notes will be replaced by new notes, and we are getting rid of notes with a picture
