Central Bank of Ireland – Payment and Securities Settlements System Infrastructure Report (July 2010)

The Central Bank of Ireland's July 2010 Payment and Securities Settlements System Infrastructure Report shows the country remains behind European counterparts in moving away from cheques as a form of non-cash payments.

The report shows that cheques makes up 70% of all non-cash payments in Ireland, whereas the European Union (EU) average is around 3%. In contrast with most other eurozone countries, cheques are still widely used for payment in Ireland.

The report shows the volume of cheques
