RBA: Australia’s employment boom had no impact on joblessness

Workers on the fringes of or outside the Australian labour force gained from the employment boom in the last decade, while those seeking work from within the labour market did not, a paper published on Tuesday by the Reserve Bank of Australia finds.

The paper uses data from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey to examine the change in employment rates between 2002 and 2006, a period of strong employment growth.
