The South African Reserve Bank could change the way it conducts open-market operations, a deputy governor revealed on Thursday night.

Daniel Mminele told a gathering of financiers in Pretoria that the Reserve Bank was considering the changes on the back of "challenges" encountered last December. "In light of the challenges, we are considering some changes to the way in which the Bank conducts its open-market operations and we will be in a position to make announcements soon," he said.
