Peru holds policy rate at 5%
Central bank stays put as inflation accelerates and rate almost reaches same level as the Fed’s
Peru’s central bank today (December 12) held its policy rate at 5%.
After cutting by 25 basis points in its last meeting, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) has decided to stay put going into the new year. In a statement, its board of directors said they were “particularly attentive to new information” on inflation.
Year-on-year headline inflation rose slightly in November, increasing to 2.27% from 2% the previous month. Core inflation also increased from 2.51% to 2.55%. The BCRP attributed
