Macklem named Canadian senior deputy

Tiff Macklem, the associate deputy finance minister and Canada's G7 deputy, has been named the Bank of Canada's new senior deputy governor.

Macklem will replace Paul Jenkins, who steps down after 32 years at the central bank.

Long seen as a possible successor to Jenkins, Macklem has already served a spell as deputy governor and began his career at the central bank. Macklem joined the central bank in 1984, starting out in the department of monetary and financial analysis. He was made head of the
