SARB split over rate hold

South African Reserve Bank rate-setters on Tuesday were split over the decision to hold its benchmark rate at 7%.

Gill Marcus, the governor of the Reserve Bank, said following the vote: "It was not a unanimous decision. There were very strong views in terms of an interest rate cut."
