Brazil broadens settlement universe
The Central Bank of Brazil said on Friday that it had broadened access to its Selic settlement system, which transfers government securities, and relaxed the constraints for security trading between users in a bid to boost efficiency and the amount of trade.
The new rules will allow non-bank users such as brokers and credit cooperatives to deal directly with the central bank by opening reserve accounts, rather than acting through banks which hold such accounts. A technician at the central bank
