Ukraine president to block move to sack governor

Viktor Yuschenko, the Ukraine's president, is to launch a legal bid to render parliament's latest attempt to oust the governor of the country's central bank invalid.

Yuschenko said on Tuesday that he would dispute the resolution passed by parliament on Monday to terminate the appointment of the central bank governor. The president said that he would challenge the resolution in the country's constitutional court and noted that, under law, the term of the governor of the National Bank of Ukraine
