South Africa's Mboweni on challenges in Africa

Mr T. Mboweni, Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, spoke at a conference in Zambia on 5 August about the challenges faced by central banks in Africa.

His message was that the priorities are similar to those experienced by central banks everywhere: controlling inflation, developing the financial system and ensuring its stability. However, the economic and political circumstances in Africa mean that these challenges are more difficult than elsewhere.
