New payment system working well - Fiji's Narube
Savenaca Narube, the governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, announced that the country's new payment system was now up and running.
Speaking on 3 September in Port Denarau, Narube said the system, the first in a South Pacific country, was working well. He added that the system will speed up the clearance of cheques and that he was confident that it would act as a "springboard to other modernisations".
The governor also said that Fiji's economy was set to contract by more than was predicted
