Fiji court backs central bank on accounts claim

The High Court of Fiji has said that the country's central bank does not have to give the Auditor General access to its accounts.

The court dismissed the auditor's claim on Friday, saying that the central bank had the right to appoint outside auditors other than the auditor general's office. The court also awarded costs against the Auditor General approved the central bank's existing practice of appointing external auditors. The central bank's auditors for the year ending 31 December 2006 were
