Indonesia's parliament names new deputy governor

Hartadi Sarwono was elected as a deputy governor of Bank Indonesia on Tuesday 20 May by a parliamentary committee and Burhanuddin Abdullah was sworn in as the new governor of the central bank.

A parliamentary committee Tuesday elected Hartadi Sarwono as Bank Indonesia deputy governor, replacing Miranda Gultom whose tenure ended last Friday.

Hartadi is currently the head of Bank Indonesia's office in Tokyo. He started his career at the nation's central bank in 1980.
