Former Boston Fed boss to head Freddie Mac

Richard Syron, president of the Boston Fed from 1989-94 and in charge during the bailout of New England's largest bank, was appointed chief executive and chairman of Freddie Mac.

Syron is a turnaround specialist who recently completed a complex restructuring of Waltham's Thermo Electron Corp. and was chairman of the American Stock Exchange when it merged with the parent of the Nasdaq stock exchange, the National Association of Securities Dealers. He said
