ECB pushes for greater crypto asset powers
Central bank suggests changes to afford it greater oversight of e-money issuers
The European Central bank is seeking a greater role in supervising crypto assets, according to a document published by the regulator in February.
In response to a request from the European Council and parliament, the ECB published an opinion on proposed regulation of the crypto asset market.
The regulator argued it should have the final word on whether stablecoins should be given the go-ahead for issuance.
