Riksbank warns about e-krona fraudsters

Swedish central bank points to false online information claiming it is selling e-kronor

Sveriges Riksbank issued a statement on July 15 to warn the public about e-krona fraudsters.

The Swedish central bank said false information on social media and some websites claim the Riksbank is selling e-kronor. The institution adds individuals have contacted by companies claiming to be selling e-kronor on behalf of the Riksbank.

The central bank stresses Swedish authorities have not decided yet whether the Riksbank will ever be allowed to issue a central bank digital currency. Since 2017
