Opposition politician criticises central bank for frequently missing inflation target

The governor of Australia’s central bank rejected suggestions from opposition politicians that it should review its monetary policy regime after consistently missing the inflation target.

Philip Lowe was asked about the possibility of a review when he appeared before the economics committee of the lower house of Australia’s parliament

“Given that many other central banks are conducting reviews, it seems that a central bank that has missed its inflation target for most of the past five years
