RBNZ’s Hannah: central bank is working to close trust gap
Survey in 2014 linked poor public understanding of central bank’s work with low trust
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) has undergone a major push to improve understanding of its work, after a survey in 2014 flagged low levels of trust among the general public, communications chief Mike Hannah said in a speech today (June 27).
The survey showed how limited familiarity with the bank’s work was linked to relatively low levels of trust. The general public scored 40% on trust, compared with 83% among sophisticated stakeholders. At the same time, the public scored only 15% for
