Inflation expectations in the eurozone may have come unstuck from the European Central Bank's (ECB) "close to, but less than, 2%" target, a working paper published today (August 26) by the central bank finds.

Anchoring of inflation expectations in the euro area: recent evidence based on survey data, by Tomasz Łyziak and Maritta Paloviita, finds signs of a "de-anchoring" of expectations in surveys of professional forecasters.

Recently, forecasters have placed increasing emphasis on ECB inflation
