Paraguay holds rates at 6%

Central bank points to positive signs in domestic economy and external environment

Paraguay’s central bank on September 20 held its policy rate at 6%, citing favourable conditions in the domestic economy and externally.

In a statement, the Central Bank of Paraguay said economic activity and demand continued to “evolve favourably”, while services, manufacturing, construction, livestock and agriculture had all exhibited “good dynamics”.

It added that external risks had moderated since the bank’s previous monetary policy meeting on August 22, and pointed to the start of the US
