Serbia follows ECB with 25bp rates cut

Central bank cites slowing domestic and global inflationary trends for its decision

Serbia’s central bank yesterday cut its key policy rate by 25 basis points to 5.75% on September 12. The deposit and lending facility rates were also reduced by the same amount, and now stand at 4.5% and 7% respectively.

The National Bank of Serbia said its decision, which came on the day the European Central Bank also cut its policy rates by 25bp, had been partly guided by domestic inflation. Inflation in August was 4.35%, which was within the bank’s target range of 1.5–4.5%. It said inflation
