Poland’s central bank council raised its main policy rate for the third consecutive time on December 8, in the face of climbing inflation.

The council raised the National Bank of Poland reference rate by 50 basis points to 1.75% and raised four other rates. The council cut the policy rate to 0.1% at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, keeping it there for over a year.

It then raised the reference rate to 0.5% in October, increasing git again by 75 basis points at its November meeting
