Bostic sees US economy close to jobs and inflation targets

Even with higher rates, the Fed president forecasts inflation “to run a bit above” 2% target

The Federal Reserve is now closer to reach its double policy goal of full employment and 2% annual inflation, said the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in a speech at Atlanta Economics Club on May 21.

“From the perspective of the dual mandate, we’re arguably as close to these goals as we’ve been over this expansion,” Raphael Bostic said.
