Some ECB governing council members wanted softer QE language – minutes

Governing council members also cautious over future exchange rate movements

Some members of the European Central Bank’s governing council called for the institution to soften its language on quantitative easing, the minutes of its January monetary policy meeting show.

The minutes from the January 24 and 25 meeting show a number of council members argued for the ECB to change the way it communicates its intentions over its asset purchase programme.

They note that “some members expressed a preference for dropping the easing bias regarding the APP from the Governing
