Hungary PM picks finance minister Matolcsy for central bank top job

The National Bank of Hungary will be brought more into line with government policy after the country's finance minister György Matolcsy was today nominated to succeed András Simor as governor of the central bank.

A statement from prime minister Viktor Orbán's office stressed the importance of achieving economic growth through more "harmonised" policies between the two institutions with Matolcsy installed as governor.
