Milei confirms Santiago Bausili as BCRA pick

Appeals court recently dismissed conflict-of-interest charges against governor-designate

Argentine president-elect Javier Milei confirmed he would appoint Santiago Bausili as the next governor of the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) on December 6. Milei has pledged to abolish the BCRA, implying he hopes Bausili will be its last governor.

The announcement comes a day after a federal appeals court in Buenos Aires dismissed two charges of conflicts of interest against Bausili. The prosecution began in 2021.
