A round-up of central bankers in the news and on the move during the past three months
The standing committee of China’s congress named Pan Gongsheng governor of the People’s Bank of China on July 25, succeeding Yi Gang. The PBoC had already announced on July 1 that Pan will be the central bank’s party secretary, succeeding Guo Shuqing, implying he could be the next governor. Pan joined the PBoC as deputy governor in 2012 and later took leadership of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, a position he appears to have retained.
