Finance minister becomes new Guatemala governor
Gónzalez replaces Recinos, who had led the Bank of Guatemala for seven years
The president of Guatemala, Alejandro Gianmattei, appointed finance minister Álvaro Gónzalez Ricci as the new governor of the Bank of Guatemala on October 1.
Gónzalez succeeds Sergio Recinos, who has led the central bank since 2015. Recinos’s term ended on September 30.
The president also re-appointed deputy governor José Alfredo Blanco Valdés, and named Saulo de León the new superintendent of banks. The president names the governor and deputy governor to four-year terms under the central bank
