Kareem Michael to be new Belize governor

Former deputy governor will be third central bank head this year after predecessor was fired

The government of Belize will appoint Kareem Michael to be the new governor of the Central Bank of Belize, say media reports.

Michael will become the third governor of the Central Bank of Belize this year, after his predecessor was dismissed by the government. John Briceño, the prime minister, told Belizean media that the central bank’s board had recommended Michael for the post.
