Former Bank of Israel governor Klein dies
Governor oversaw transition to inflation target and sometimes clashed with government
David Klein, a former governor of the Bank of Israel (BoI), has died at the age of 86.
Klein served as governor of the central bank between 2000 and 2005, at a time when Israel faced both economic and political crises.
Governor Amir Yaron said the BoI’s staff would “cherish the great contribution” Klein made to the central bank and the Israeli economy.
