The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has appointed its first female chief economist, along with its first director for gender and economic inclusion.

The EBRD named Beata Javorcik as its new chief economist on February 25. She will join the bank on September 1, succeeding Sergei Guriev, who has held the role since January 2016.
