Stefan Ingves steps down as chairman after nearly eight years in role

Pablo Hernández de Cos is the new chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the organisation revealed today (March 7).

Effective immediately, the Bank of Spain governor takes over from Sveriges Riksbank governor Stefan Ingves, who has served in the role since July 2011.

De Cos was appointed by the Group of Governors and Heads of Supervision (GHOS), the high-level body to which the Basel Committee reports. He will serve a term of three years, renewable once, as set by the
