People: Fed appoints new payments security strategy chief

Boston Fed vice-president to lead payments security; director of prudential regulation of UK banks to stand down; and more

US: The Federal Reserve System appointed Kenneth Montgomery as its new payments security strategy leader on December 8. Montgomery will remain the first vice-president and chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

His main new tasks will involve reducing fraud risk and advancing the safety, security and resiliency of the US payment system, the Boston Fed explains on its website.

Governor Jerome Powell, President Trump’s nominee to succeed Janet Yellen as Fed chair, said:
