Uzbek senate appoints new central bank chief
Mamarizo Nurmuratov becomes chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan
The Uzbek senate has confirmed Mamarizo Nurmuratov as the new chairman of the nation’s central bank, following the death of the previous chief in May.
In a brief statement on June 6, the senate said it had considered Nurmuratov’s appointment at its latest meeting and given him the go-ahead.
Nurmuratov had been an adviser to the previous chairman, Fayzulla Mullazhanov, a position he took up in 2006. He first joined the Central Bank of Uzbekistan in 1993, serving as director of research, then
