People: vice-governor appointed at PBoC; Bank of Canada creates new comms role

China: Yin Yong has been promoted to vice-governor of the People's Bank of China (PBoC) by the country's State Council, replacing Guo Qingping.

Yin joined the central bank in 2015, leaving the private sector to become assistant governor. He was, and will remain, a member of the PBoC's monetary policy committee.

A Harvard graduate in public administration, Yin also holds a PhD in system engineering from Tsinghua University, as well as a double bachelor's degree in automatic control and business
