United Kingdom: The Bank of England (BoE) has hired Michael Kumhof from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as senior research advisor in its new research hub.

Kumhof spent the last 10 years at the IMF, where he most recently served as deputy division chief of the economic modelling division in the research department. In his new role, he will help to expand the BoE's research capacity.

Andrew Haldane, the BoE's chief economist, described the post as "an important new role at the bank" and
