Hungary’s Simor breaks silence on government attacks
András Simor, the governor of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB), on Monday hit back at the government of Viktor Orbán, which has repeatedly attacked him and the central bank.
At a press conference to announce the central bank's rate hold, Simor said the Orbán government's campaign against the MNB was "dangerous and prone to fail." "Every political attack has a price and the citizens are the ones who have to pick up the tab," he said in remarks confirmed by the central bank.
