Lebanese judge says security forces blocked interview of governor
Signs of rising political tensions over investigation of corruption allegations against Salameh
A Lebanese judge said that local security forces prevented her from interviewing the country’s central bank governor about alleged financial crimes.
Ghada Aoun said that she attempted to speak to Riad Salameh at the central bank after he refused to answer three previous summons. Aoun is investigating Salameh over allegations that he illicitly enriched himself in office.
Salameh has repeatedly denied all charges of wrong-doing. Aoun said that she arrived at the Central Bank of Lebanon
