Weidmann to chair IMF governance review panel
Executive board ordered a review after allegations against Kristalina Georgieva
The International Monetary Fund announced on February 4 that Jens Weidmann, former governor of the Deutsche Bundesbank, would lead a committee to examine the fund’s “institutional safeguards”.
The evaluation is part of a wider review of the fund’s internal governance prompted by allegations against IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva. She was accused of meddling in the drafting of the annual Doing Business 2018 report at her previous role leading the World Bank.
