Libyan central bank halts work after IT director abducted

Kidnapping comes after armed protesters call for governor’s resignation

The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) said on August 18 that the director of its information technology department had been kidnapped and that it was suspending operations until he had been released.

The CBL said Musab Msallem had been abducted from his house by an “unidentified party” at 9am that day. It added that the unnamed perpetrators had also threatened to kidnap other CBL officials.
